Top 20 Most Frequently Asked Questions About Massage Therapy — Answered by a Professional - Part 1:
If you’re new to massage therapy — or even if you’re not — it’s natural to have a few questions. At Marques De Frere, we believe there’s no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your comfort and confidence. So here are 20 of the most common queries we hear, answered simply and honestly:
1. Do I need to take off all my clothes?
Not at all, it’s completely unnecessary. Your comfort is the priority. You’ll always be appropriately covered with towels, and we’ll only uncover the area being worked on.
In fact Marques De Frere (along with over 90% of the rest of the industry) have a ‘No Nudity Policy’ click here to read it.
2. Will the massage hurt?
Not unless you want it to! We tailor the pressure to your preference — whether you like it gentle, deep, or somewhere in between.
3. What if I feel self-conscious about my body?
You’re not alone — most people feel that way at first. But rest assured, our treatment room is a judgement-free zone. Your body is simply a vessel for wellness.
4. How long should I book for my first session?
30 to 60 minutes is ideal for a first visit. Our Express All Body Massage is a great introduction.
And on that note; we currently have an Early Bird Discount Offer - a 45 minute Express All Body Massage for only £35 (Normally 30 minutes for £45), so its a great taster massage at a great price and flush in the middle at 45 minutes. click here to learn more.
5. What if I fall asleep?
That’s a compliment! It means you’ve relaxed — which is exactly the goal.
6. Can I talk during the massage?
Of course. Some clients chat, others zone out in silence. It’s your time, your choice.
In fact, our tagline is: Your pace. Your time. Your relaxation. - so…. Your Choice.
7. Should I eat before my massage?
Best to eat lightly. A full stomach can feel uncomfortable when you’re lying down for treatment.
8. Do I need to bring anything?
Just yourself. We’ve got everything ready — clean towels, oils, and a welcoming space.
9. What if I’m ticklish?
We adapt our touch so you feel soothed, not squirmy. Let us know and we’ll adjust accordingly.
10. Will I be sore after the massage?
Sometimes you may feel a little achy — like after a workout. This is temporary and often a sign of muscle release.
That’s Part 1… check back soon to read Part 2.
